OOEA Attends March Legislative Reception

OOEA members attending the reception

The legislative reception on March 31st was a big success! We had productive conversations and made valuable connections with the legislators who attended. State Senator Nathan Manning, State Representative Gayle Manning, Representative Joe Miller, and OEA President Scott DeMauro were all present, and they shared great insights on education, educational funding, and related OEA issues.

Five of our members also attended the event, and they learned a lot from elected officials about current educational policy. Each member heard in-depth conversations about issues that affect schools, students, and educators, which gave them a chance to share ideas and advocate for positive change. One member was even able to share directly with legislators a specific example relating to funding and its importance.

Overall, the reception was extremely valuable. It strengthened our relationships with legislators and gave our members a deeper understanding of where our legislators stand. We’re so grateful to Senator Manning, Representative Manning, Representative Miller and President DeMauro for attending, and we look forward to continuing to work with them to improve educational outcomes. They all said to reach out and let them know what is happening in education. If we don’t, who will?
